A4D members have been created informational zines related to social, civic and political issues. We’ve compiled some below.
In May as part of Mental Health Awareness month, A4D member and artist Deborah Aschheim created two zines in collaboration with Say Their Names LA, a family-led network of support and mutual aid for people affected by law enforcement violence. The bilingual (English and Spanish) zines address the intersection of mental health and social justice. Say Their Names LA Spring Zine No. 1 (support/protect) includes art, poetry, a mental health/crisis prevention resource guide, and stories from families who lost loved ones at the hands of LAPD and LA County Sheriffs. Say Their Names LA Spring Zine No. 2 (support/heal) features more art and stories, and resources to help in the aftermath of a crisis, including legal aid and grief counseling.
A4D member Bronwyn Mauldin helped create a guide for reopening Arts Institutions using sound research and hard data. For a full set of Bronwyn Mauldin’s political zines go to Teacher Resources.
